UFO & Spaceship
Artists
UFO's are unidentified
flying objects that to some are just fantasy and to others who claim
to have seen them out there in the night sky that would have you
believe different. Wherever the truth lies, UFO's have given artists'
unlimited imagination and inspiration that in turn has produced
some really great art. Here are some examples of that.
Chris
Foss was born in 1946 in Devon, England. Encouraged by a drawing
master in his earlier years he participated in a course, which earned
him a grant at a boarding school in Dorset. He started drawing sketches
of the worn-out shipyards in the harbor of pool. His family didn't
want him to be an artist. So he came to a compromise and went to
university to study architecture. While he studied in Cambridge
he sold drawings to "Autocar" and a six-page cartoon to
Bob Gucciones "Penthouse". He quit his studies in 1966
and took a job working for a building sculpture. In 1969 he left
the sculpture, and got the assignment of making a cover illustration
for Constable Ltd, which led to a contact with a bureau and from
that day onward his career picked up. Slowly but steadily, he earned
himself a reputation making dramatic war scenes; planes, ships,
subs and even space ships.
 Frank
Kelly Freas is the only artist to have won the Hugo award ten
times. He's known for his illustrations in book and magazine covers.
He has done interior art for science fiction, fantasy, NASA space
program, record albums, advertising and Mad magazine. He is recognized
as the most prolific and popular science fiction artist in the world.
He made his mark in the science fiction world in 1950. Frank Kelly
Freas was commissioned to do artwork for the group Queen's album
News of the World. He resides in Los Angeles. His career doesn't
stop with that, he did artwork for DC Comics in 1992 for the Star
Trek Annual, and was also commissioned to create biomedical art.
Some of the top science fiction writers to date that have used his
art work are Isaac Asimov, Robert Heinlein, Arthur C. Clarke just
to name a few.
