The Best Beast Movie
There
are many kinds of beasts. Some are big, some are small. This beast
just happens to be very, very big. His name is "Godzilla".
Nick
Tatopolous (Matthew Broderick) is a biologist studying the mutating
effects of radiation on earthworms at a nuclear power plant. He
is escorted into the service of the United States army after a couple
of strange events. First the destruction of a large Japanese fishing
boat, second the discovery of gigantic footprints. Before Nick can
figure out exactly what they're up against, Godzilla shows up in
New York City. His presence is felt as he destroys local landmarks
and tramples the city's people.
Other characters include
an enigmatic Frenchman (Jean Reno) who pretends he is an insurance
investigator. Audrey (Maria Pitillo) is a reporter looking for the
big story that will launch her career, while turning away the sexual
moves boss (Harry Shearer") makes. Animal (Hank Azaria) is
the risk-taking cameraman who chases the giant monster with Audrey.
Mayor Ebert (Michael Lerner) who is seeking re-election wants to
do whatever he can to use this disaster as a platform for re-election.
Teaming up, they face the five hundred foot tall creature and save
New York from destruction.
Godzilla
has plenty of action from buildings being smashed and cars being
tossed around to an awesome air battle taking place between Godzilla
and some F-18s, helicopters and the US army. Madison Square Garden
also becomes a breeding ground for Godzilla's offspring.
