The Best Castle Movie
This
remake of Dumas's swashbuckling adventure
stars Chris O'Donnell as the idealistic
D'Artagnan, Kiefer Sutherland as Athos,
Charlie Sheen as Aramis, and Oliver Platt
as the daring Porthos. O'Donnell repeatedly
tries to join the group and become a King's
Musketeer. They all get caught up in the
evil plan powered by Cardinal Richelieu
(Tim Curry) and his femme, the treacherous
Lady de Winter (Rebecca De Mornay).
The
cast perserves the magic that sparked
the 1974 version that so many loved. Tim
Curry and the wisecracking Oliver Platt
make this movie as memorable as the stunning
castle scenes it is based on.
The castles look and
feel make us believe that we really are in early France. A deep
look at them will make you see the fine detail the was put into
creating these elaborate mansions. Even the dungeons or prisons
look dark and danky. The Three Musketeers is a reasonably funny
movie. It is set in ancient times and tries to be serious in an
odd comical way and does not disappoint. It is filled with a lot
of slapstick routines that keep you entertained. The story is deep
and there is plenty of substance that you are left with after the
movie.
