The Best Mythology Movie
Urban
legends. These are stories about events that the people telling
them claim they have actually happened. Some refer to these stories
as mythology. Namely American mythology.
It's
the fall semester at a New England university.
A group of kids reject the fact of a legendary
student massacre that happened twenty-five
years prior. According to legend, a professor
went crazy with a hunting knife and killed
an entire dormitory of students. Student
reporter Paul (Jared Leto) denounces the
story as fake, but Parker (Michael Rosenbaum)
insists that the story is true.
These students are then
exposed to more legends in their class when Professor Wexler (Robert
Englund) exposes the truth behind several urban legends. However,
these urban legends soon become reality when a killing spree is
unleashed on unsuspecting students. Students are being murdered
in re-enactments of these famous legends. For some inexplicable
reason, the killing seems focused around sophomore student
After
witnessing the murder of a fellow student, Natalie (Alicia Witt)
sees her friends being slaughtered one by one by the urban legend
serial killer. This scenario leads up a most triumphant conclusion.
The actors in this movie
are fun to watch. Robert Englund gives a performance every bit as
great as he did when he played Freddy Kruger in all seven Nightmare
on Elm Street.
