Bill Pullman is the President of the United States of America. He faces an invasion from outer space. Initially, it isn't clear whether the spaceships hovering over major cities worldwide are friendly or hostile. The answer is soon discovered. A large laser beam emanates from the UFO's, blowing building to dust and debris.

Enter Will Smith playing a military pilot with a cocky attitude. He captures an injured alien and discovers a secret research facility where he learns that the alien visit was known and expected. At that he gathers his forces and launches a full-scale war against the aliens.

With the alien's threatening to destroy the world, it's time for the Americans as well to stand up to these foreign creatures and save the world. They fight with great confidence and great strength. Not many Americans go down in this fight. It is mainly all the trespassing aliens and their high tech spaceships.

The characters here are all great actors displaying excellent performances. There is an incredible feeling of patriotism when the movie ends. A small felling that makes you want to pick up an American flag and chant, "U.S.A., U.S.A., U.S.A…"
