The Best Vampire Movie

Bram Stoker's Dracula begins with the story of Vlad the Impaler, who went off to fight a war and returns to find that his beloved wife had committed suicide when she thought her Vlad was killed in the war.

Vlad cannot take this fact and vows to wait forever for his bride to return. He embraces the satanic ways of vampirism and thus sets the movie theme. The story takes place in Victoria times in Count Dracula's Castle in Transylvania. There we are introduced to Keanu Reeves young attorney who plays the part of Jonathan Harker. He has been asked to venture out to Dracula's castle to arrange real estate transactions.

Harker's carriage, driven by a faceless man, drops him off in the darkness near Dracula's castle. There Count Dracula, played be Gary Oldman who is still awaiting for the return of his dead bride, meets Harker and sees a photograph of Harker's' fiancée, Mina Murray played by Winona Ryder. Dracula knows his wait has come to an end. His beloved wife is once again alive.

Back in London, we meet other characters, including the fearless vampire hunter Abraham Van Helsing (Anthony Hopkins), and Lucy Westenra (Sadie Frost), Mina's best friend. When Dracula goes to London, Van Helsing's begins his quest to destroy the undead. In return, Dracula and his three dead female servants set out for the long lost Mina.

We are witness to some astounding transformations. One is Mina's love from Harker to Dracula. Another is Dracula's hate to love to hate again. His physical body changes as well, from old man to young. He also turns into mist, wolf and bat.
