The History of Dragons
 Dragons
have appeared in the stories of virtually all people back to the
beginning of time. These mammoth creatures appear in numerous forms
and colors. Many traditions have been created based on them. In
the beginning, dragons were associated with the Great Mother, the
water god and the warrior sun god. They had the power to be beneficial
and destructive. They were the most powerful creatures in the world.
The dragons originally
arose from the waters of the earth. They were believed to live at
the bottom of the sea. There they guarded large treasure filled
with gold and jewels. In the early days, thunder and lightning were
believed to be the dragon's breath giving them the power to breathe
fire. The dragons were to control the destiny of the world. Man
claimed the earth and eventually wiped out these creatures.
The
dragon was considered by many to be the gap between demons and the
devils. Although in the East, the belief was different. There the
dragon was benevolent, a son of heaven controlled by the watery
elements of the universe. They were described as having the feet
and wings of an eagle, the forelimbs and head of a lion, the scales
of a fish, and the tail serpent. In some parts of the world, the
dragons were considered evil monsters, which were result of the
unnatural union of an eagle and a she-wolf. The dragons derived
its power from its fiery breath, which devastated whole countries.
Its eyes were fiery red, believed to be the reflection of the treasures
they guarded.
