Castle X-Files

An entry found in the journal of Robert Harp:

As far I can remember I've always felt a magnetic force pulling me to the castle of Vlad the Impaler, better known as Dracula. I know I was meant to go there. Something was waiting for me on the other side. I worked for two years to make enough money to visit this dark lord's castle. I needed to see what it wanted from me.

When I finally had enough money to make the trip, I bought a one way ticket to Transylvania. I didn't know why I did this, but I just had this feeling that I would not be retuning. The plane ride was long. When I reached Romania, I was able to get a coach to take me as far as the foot of the mountain where the castle dwelled. No one was willing to go any further.

From the bottom of the mountain I began my long journey uphill. Suddenly another coach appeared. It stopped beside me and the door opened. I jumped in. I could see only the faint shape of the driver, as it was dark. He stopped at the gate of the castle. As I walked up to the big front doors, I felt a sense of freedom and belonging.

The doors opened before I even knocked on them. Once inside, I was witness to the most beautiful candle lit castle I had ever seen. I knew I belonged here. This was my calling. My home. It was time to meet my father. I called out to him. "Master", I said. "I'm here Master." From a shadow on the wall came a voice. "You have always been here."

I was home.
