Unicorn X-Files

This is a letter found in a bottle buried in the sand on the shore of Wasaga Beach in Ontario, Canada. The paper is believed to be at least three hundred years old:

The twenty forth of September in the year of our Lord sixteen hundred and twenty four.

I never knew true beauty until that day. It was a bright spring morning as the clouds drifted peacefully throughout the sky. The birds serenaded me. It was as if they knew what a special event was to happen to me.

I was playing in the enchanted forest as I did every day. I loved the forest. It was absolutely breathtaking. The air was always cool and fresh. I walked through the marvel of birds and frogs singing in harmony.

Tired, I sat against a large tree. The butterflies played peacefully in the air before me. Then I heard a soft crunch. I looked up and saw the most beautiful creature ever. It was a unicorn. Pure white, tall and proud. It looked confused by my presence. I got up slowly and instantly it turned around and ran off. I chased after it. After a couple of minutes, I gave up. I thought it to be lost. I turned around to head back when I saw it once again before me. This time it walked away slowly, wanting me to follow it. I did. If lead me to a clearing. There, before me stood al least twenty of these beautiful animals.

After I spent the day here I decided I was to live the rest of my life here. I told the boy that lived here that I was going to tell my family where I was. He told me that was impossible. I could stay here forever or go back home and forget what I saw. I chose to stay in the wonderful world. I have written this letter and put it in a bottle in hopes that one day it will find its way to my family. I want you to know that I am safe and happy and I love you very much.

Katherine
